Akita

Akita Prefecture is located between Aomori, Iwate, and Yamagata Prefecture. It is mostly a wide wild mountainous territory that boasts also a beautiful coastline in front of the Japan Sea. Akita is famous for its traditions, its unique folklore and the warm population who lives there. Its name is also the name of its symbol, the Akita inu, known to be the most faithful dog in Japan. Visit the Oga peninsula in winter to admire the Namahage festival, enjoy one of the most great  festivals of the Tohoku region in summer, visit the old samurai town of Kakunodate, the cultural richness, and the majestic sceneries will surely amaze you.
