Noshiro tanabata "Nightless sky Castle"

Neburi Nagashi festival in Noshiro takes place for a long time. In the end of Edo period, some writing mentioned a lantern in the form of the Nagoya castle has been created and became more and more popular. The inhabitants used to parade with this huge lantern 17 meters high in the streets until the sunrise. But modern times bring electricity poles and it was impossible to carry such a big lantern across the town. Noshiro started a project to move the poles as far away as possible from the streets. One century later, the festival rised again. The beautiful “castle in the night” restored its elegance and its majestuous size and still parade today. Let’s enjoy this unforgettable festival resurrected thanks to the great ambition of the Tohoku inhabitants.
