The Japan Golden Week is coming !

It's soon the Golden-Week in Japan, the popular Japanese ‘s holiday. The name Golden-week refers to the word "Golden time", a name given by Japanese radio stations to describe the best weekly audience. This year, it will last 10 days, from April 26 to May 6. The first day of the golden-week is the day of birth of Emperor Hirohito, born April 29, 1901, which marks the beginning of the Showa era (1901-1989), the longest reign of Japan. May 3 is the day of the constitution and is called Kenpo Kinenbi, and the next day is the day dedicated to nature:Midori no hi. The last bank holiday on May 5th is the children's day: Kodomo no hi. This year, the date of the arrival of the new emperor on  May 1, 2019 will also become a bank holiday.

During the 50’s in Japan, the Golden Week became very popular and considerably increased the cinema’s turnover. Nowadays, tourism becomes the real purpose of the archipelago’s inhabitants, that is why staying in Kyoto, Nara, Miyajima… could be very difficult and expensive.

In Japan, there are approximately 20 days off per year, and as it is still unusual that Japanese use them outside the Golden Week, this one become truly crowded, and the last minute booking is not recommended at this time. Make sure to book your accommodation, Shinkansen and flight tickets in advance. It is also advisable to choose off the beaten tracks sites in order to enjoy a pleasant stay. Japan is full of surprises and a lot of unknown areas have plenty to offer !
