Okayama

At the West of Chûgoku region, the provinces of Bitchū, Bizen and Mimasaka were put together to create Okayama prefecture during the Meiji restoration. Legendary land, it is famous thanks to the story of Momotaro where the tale unfolds. Okayama’s sun-soaked earth is also the kingdom of fruits with its most local and symbolic fruit being the peach that appears in this popular japanese tale. Throughout the year, Okayama is blessed with minimal rain and a mild climate; earning it the nickname of « the Land of Sunshine». 
The prefecture is conveniently located between the popular tourist destinations and offers smooth access; especially to the islands of Seto inland sea where the Setouchi International Contemporary Art Festival is organised every three years.
You will find many mystical places in Okayama, such as Kinojo castle and Kibitsu-jinja and Kibitsuhiko-jinja temples. Landscapes are dotted with buildings enlightening Japan's history as well as many highly trouristic attractions offering views on an untouched nature.
