Miyazaki

No, it is not only the name of studio Ghibli's  famous producer Miyazaki Hayao but also the name of a prefcture with a cool climate. Located south-west, Miyazaki enjoys a nice weather making it the perfect place for sport activities all year round. Japanese people especially know Miyazaki as "the birth place of Japan": many historical sites appear in japanese tales and mythology.
Enter the small "mythological town" of Takachiho to gaze at its natural beauty and magics sites. You will be able to experiment an 800 years old shinto ritual, called Takachiho Kagura, in which 33 kagura performances (literally "god's entertainement", type of theatral dance similar to Noh) plays out all the evening.
During your stay, don't miss the local pride: the honkaku shochu (not to be confused with sake). It is the oldest type of alcohol in Japan, extractedd from sweet potatoes not rice.
