Kagoshima

Kagoshima prefecture, consisting of the southernmost part of Kyushu and the northern half of the island group that stretches from Kyushu to Taiwan (called the Nansei Shoto), lie on Osumi and Satsuma peninsula, at the South of Japan. Across the 600km land that stretches from north to south, you will find picturesque seasonal scenery, distinctive islands, locations with a deep sense of history and an abundance of excellent hot springs. Formerly named Satsuma, Kagoshima had a major role during the Meiji restauration as well as during the Meiji era (rebelion of disaffected samurai against the government, in 1877). Enjoying not only a nice and sunny weather, it is also famous for its sites designated as UNESCO's World Heritage (Yakushima Island; Amami Oshima Island, Tokunoshima Island, the northern part of Okinawa Island and Iriomote Island;  and Sites of Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution).
