Kagawa

Smallest prefecture of Japan bordered by Seto inland sea and Shikoku mountains, Kagawa is still quite amazing. It is recognized as "jewel of the world" thanks to its umerous historical and cultural attractions. Through its capital Takamatsu, it enjoys an easy access from and to the big cities of the country. The Ritsurin garden, with its carefully sculpted pine trees and 400 years old bonsais, remains the main point of interests for travelers. Kagawa also boasts a long-standing pilgrimage culture with the temples located within relatively short walking distance of each other.
The place is filled with udon restaurants (wheat noddles) and has consequently been nicknamed "the udon prefectre". Very popular in the country, the local speciality are Sanuki udon that are declined into a variety of firm noddles.
